About Me

Hi there!

I’m Marianne, a Finnish expatriate currently living in Denmark, a mother of three daughters, and a partner. I see myself as a curious, gentle, creative, and easily enthusiastic person. I love good coffee, unhurried mornings, “breathing breaks,” audiobooks, horses and horseback riding, as well as photography. In photography, I am inspired by making different moods visible and by noticing and capturing small details that resonate on a deeper level. What I cherish most is exploring people and the many facets of being human. This is also where psychotherapy meets the perspective from which I work as a psychotherapist. I am interested in you both as a whole person and in all your details and different sides—your experiences and your pain. Here, I am present and ready to be a companion on the journey into the meaningful stories of your life.

What kind of psychotherapist am I?

I feel that I have always had a strong interest in people and in the human mind. The mind is so multifaceted, layered, adaptable, and endlessly wise. In psychotherapy, I love the opportunity to be a kind of detective as we map and explore together the meaningful experiences and relationships of your unique life. As a therapist, I aim to meet you with warmth and authenticity. I believe that the most important foundation of therapeutic work is a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship, and I work actively to build this. Within a safe relationship, it becomes possible to dare to explore one’s inner world and to practice and learn new ways of acting and relating to experiences and situations that feel difficult.

As a therapist, I am client-centred, empathic, and flexible. I do my best to tailor my way of working to your individual needs. Sometimes this means offering space and calm, and at other times it involves more activity and insight. All of your feelings, experiences, and parts of you are welcome in therapy. The aim is for you to feel heard and seen as your unique self, just as you are.

My Professional Experience

Over the past two years, I have focused exclusively on providing psychotherapy as part of my training. During this time, I have worked with several dozen client processes, both short-term and long-term. Psychotherapy forms a natural continuation of my earlier professional experience, which I have accumulated over approximately 20 years working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. My work history has taken me from residential care settings to aftercare services, family counselling centres, child protection, and student welfare services. I have worked both in direct client work and in supervisory roles. Through my work experience, I am familiar with themes such as anxiety and mood-related difficulties, burnout, challenges related to emotional life and attachment relationships, identity questions in adolescence and early adulthood, trauma and developmental trauma, as well as personality disorders. I have also trained as a counsellor specialising in blended families and have worked extensively with the diverse situations faced by separated and blended families.

I currently live in Denmark as a Finnish expatriate. I have personal experience of what it is like to build a life and everyday routines in a new country, navigating a new language, culture, and social networks. Relocation and change can bring many positive opportunities, but they can also feel confusing and challenging. Questions of belonging, loneliness, and putting down roots often evoke strong emotions, and adjustment takes time. I therefore understand you who are building your life and finding your place in a new country and culture.
